Therondels
is a small picturesque village situated in the North of the departement
of Aveyron and at the border of the Cantal
departement.
It is also located in both the Occitanie and the Auvergne regions,
which gives it a specific charm. It is sited in the old viscountcy
of Carlat (which gave its name to Carladez) that belonged to Monaco
until the French Revolution.
With 600 inhabitants, this little village has a pretty important
community life (the village fete on the 15th of August, the donkey's
fair, the Christmas market, the music festival...) There is every
kind of shop.
On this site, you will find a web page on Jean-Francois
Miquel, hotel-and-restaurant owner, and Didier
Soulenq, crafstman
Life is economically dependent upon agriculture (Limousine and Aubrac
cows breeding), food-processing industry (the dairy cooperative
produces AOC Cantal cheese) and also electricity production (particularly
with the dam of Sarrans on the river Truyere, one of the most hydro-electrified
in France).
There are numerous links with the expatriated people from Therondels,
mainly who have gone to live in Paris, where they mostly work in
cafes-hotels-restaurants (see pages on Roger
Tafanel and Bernard Boussagol),
but also those who have gone further (see page on Cecile
Cazes, working in Shangai).
The
village possesses an outstanding old church from the 11th century,
restored in the 16th century, with a Romanic Christ, chef-d'oeuvre
of the Middle Ages in the 11th century.

Around
Therondels, the churches of Mur-de -Barrez (St Thomas de Canterberry),
Albinhac, Brommes and the castles of Vallon (Middle Ages) and Messilhac
(Renaissance) are worth visiting.

The site on the peninsula of Laussac is the major touristic site
in this Carladez region.
We hope that you will come and visit us and that you will spend
a pleasant moment of authenticity.
